The Faculty of Science is charting its future research direction so that it can be a leading contributor in tackling domestic and global issues.  Two workshops were organized this month to discuss on the research areas which the Faculty of Science has the expertise, and how to capitalize on it.  The first workshop held on March 3 - March 4, 2018, at the Kinrara Resort Puchong, was attended by our Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research & Innovation, Professor Dr. Noorsaadah Abd. Rahman, our Dean, Professor Dr. Zanariah Abdullah, heads of all departments and institutes at the Faculty of Science, and selected key lecturers at the Faculty.  The workshop was extended at the departmental level starting with the Department of Chemistry on March 24, 2018, at i3, Faculty of Science.
Workshop for the Documentation of M.Sc. in Forensic Science Program
On March 17-18, 2018, a workshop was held at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam to prepare the documents for the M.Sc. in Forensic Science Program.  The workshop was chaired by Professor Dr. Ismail Yusoff, the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate. The Department of Chemistry, Institute of Biological Sciences, and the Department of Geology are working together with the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, and the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, to materialize the program.
The Faculty of Science was honored to receive separate visits from universities abroad in late February and March.  Among the visitors were delegations from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia, Hiroshima University, Japan, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  The objective of the visits was to discuss collaboration opportunites between the Faculty of Science and each respective university.  The Chinese University of Hong Kong also shared information on their postgraduate programs to the students at the Faculty of Science.

Gotong-Royong at iSAINS

Gotong-royong - a communal work carried out to achieve a common goal is very synonymous with the working spirit of the Faculty of Science.  This time, the goal was to make the iSAINS building a more conducive working and studying environment.  The filing room was tidied, and the surrounding green patch was beautified with flowers and plants.  Creating a Zen-like ambience would be beneficial for iSAINS which accomodates the i3 (for small events and discussion), Bilik Cendekiawan (for viva), and the Students’ Room (for studying).

Kudos to the members of the Faculty of Science for their tireless help and support to transform the iSAINS!
